Measure the desk and distance
Available depth constrains comfortable size.
Record viewing distance, stand footprint, eye height, and whether the display must share space. Ergonomic fit comes before a universal diagonal recommendation.
Calculate density and scaling
Size and resolution must be considered together.
Use the PPI tool to compare candidates, then check the operating system’s scaling options and the applications used on that display.
Match refresh and workload
High refresh has costs and prerequisites.
Games may value motion clarity; text and image work may value resolution, color controls, and uniformity. Verify the GPU and connection for the chosen mode.
Demand evidence for HDR
An HDR input badge alone says little about display performance.
Use VESA DisplayHDR tiers or detailed measurements and confirm local dimming, brightness, gamut, and format support for the actual model.
