Monitor PPI calculator

Get pixel density and panel dimensions from a resolution and diagonal, plus pixels per degree, which is what your eye actually resolves.

CT TOOL / 05

Measure pixel density.

Calculate PPI, physical panel dimensions, and angular pixel density without claiming a universal eye limit.

Formula: PPI = pixel diagonal ÷ physical diagonal; pixels per degree uses entered viewing distance and plane geometry.

RESULTEnter the observations to calculate.

COMMON WAYS TO ASK

QUICK ANSWER

What this calculator tells you.

Turn a resolution and a diagonal into pixel density, physical panel size, and how sharp the screen is at your real viewing distance. Sharpness is a distance question, not only a resolution one.

Questions people ask next.

Is higher resolution always sharper?

Only if you can resolve it. The same panel viewed from further away delivers fewer pixels per degree, which is why a large television and a small phone can look equally sharp in use.

Why does text look small on a high-density screen?

More pixels in the same space make each element physically smaller until the operating system scales the interface. Density and scaling are separate settings and both affect what you see.
