Wi-Fi symptom diagnosis

Separate a single slow device from coverage, congestion, and an upstream internet fault, and get the next controlled test to run.

CT TOOL / 01

Isolate the slow layer.

Describe observable patterns. The output is screening evidence, never an accusation of throttling or a confirmed hardware fault.

Method: location, device, wired-path, time, and visibility observations are ordered from broadest prerequisite to narrower pattern.

RESULTChoose the observed pattern to receive two controlled follow-up tests.

COMMON WAYS TO ASK

QUICK ANSWER

What this calculator tells you.

Answer what you can observe and the tool separates a device problem from coverage, congestion, and an upstream internet fault, then names the next controlled test.

WORKED EXAMPLE

Slow in one room only

INPUTFine beside the router · slow upstairs
RESULTA coverage pattern, so the next test is placement rather than a new plan
CHECK THE EDGE CASES

Questions people ask next.

Does a single speed test prove my plan is too slow?

No. One test measures one device over one path at one moment. Comparing a wired result with a Wi-Fi result at the same time is what separates the connection from the network.

Will a new router fix slow Wi-Fi?

Only if the evidence points at the router. Coverage, interference, one faulty device, and a weak upstream connection all look the same from the sofa and have different fixes.
