What if the needed score is above 100?
The target cannot be reached through the final alone at that weighting. Check the syllabus for extra credit, dropped scores, or category weighting that could change the calculation.
Why does the exam weight matter so much?
The weight sets how much the final can move your average. A 20% final can shift an 80% average by at most 4 points in either direction; a 50% final can shift it by 10.
